Divine Hearts Foundation Hosts Fundraising Dinner at Foundry United Methodist Church to Support Construction of Resource Center in Uganda

Divine Hearts Foundation held an inspiring fundraising dinner on Thursday, May 15th at Foundry United Methodist Church on 16th Street NW, Washington, D.C. The event brought together faith leaders, community members, and international dignitaries with a shared commitment to transforming lives in vulnerable communities across Eastern Uganda. The fundraiser aimed to raise funds for the purchase of land to establish a Divine Hearts Resource Center in Kigulu Village, Eastern Uganda. Once built, the center will serve as a hub for vocational training, educational support, clean water initiatives, and community empowerment.

The Guest of Honor was Bishop Daniel Wandabula, the Resident Bishop of the East Africa Episcopal Area of The United Methodist Church, who offered a moving keynote and led a touching remembrance of the late Rev. Dr. Patience D. Kisakye. Rev. Kisakye joined the Foundation’s vision in 2014 and played a pivotal role until her passing in 2021. Her legacy was celebrated with reverence, gratitude, and resolve to continue the work she helped grow.

Other honored guests included Her Excellency Asiimwe Maureen Kalemba, President of the Uganda Boston Community, representing the Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda, Rev. Dr. Jeff McDowell, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Divine Hearts Foundation, and Brad Fiscus, Executive Director of Fiscus Glass Works. The event was also graced by numerous supporting members from the host congregation, Foundry United Methodist Church.

Speaking at the dinner, Maureen Kalemba encouraged attendees to “share the resources we have and continue with the giving heart.” The Foundation’s founder, Benjamin Musasizi, who also serves on the Extended Clergy Team at Foundry UMC, shared powerful video presentations that showcased the living conditions of communities in Eastern Uganda and highlighted the transformational impact of partner support.

Founded in September 2012, Divine Hearts Foundation is a Christian nonprofit organization dedicated to caring for vulnerable communities through the drilling of boreholes for clean water, education sponsorships, food support, and vocational skilling programs.
