Divine Hearts Foundation Brings Aid and Hope to Kigulu Village

Divine Hearts Foundation carried out a transformative outreach in Kigulu village, delivering essential support to 284 people across 71 families. Led by staff members Margret Nalumaga, Suzan Nabirye, and two other dedicated team members, the outreach focused on distributing non-perishable food items, clothing, and shoes to families facing severe need. Additionally, the Foundation covered school fees for several children under their Education Sponsorship Program, ensuring these students could continue their education.

For many in Kigulu village, the outreach came as a lifeline. With limited access to basic resources, the distribution of food and clothing was received with deep gratitude. One villager expressed, “We are so thankful for this outreach, but there is still so much more that our community needs.” This sentiment reflects the broader reality of rural communities like Kigulu, where poverty, food insecurity, and lack of access to education remain persistent challenges.

During the outreach, the Divine Hearts Foundation team also took the opportunity to visit several schools where the children they sponsor are enrolled. The team met with teachers to discuss the children’s progress, focusing on discipline and academic performance. At Bulanga Primary School, the Deputy Headteacher Mr. Kintu Daniel praised God for the Foundation’s efforts, noting, “Divine Hearts Foundation is making a significant impact on education in Eastern Uganda. We are grateful for their support in helping our children thrive and grow into responsible citizens.”

This outreach was made possible through the unwavering support of the United Methodist Women of Faith and members of First United Methodist Church in Horseheads, New York. Their generosity has been instrumental in ensuring that Divine Hearts Foundation can continue to provide essential resources to underserved communities. With their help, we have been able to not only meet immediate needs but also invest in long-term solutions like education that offer a path out of poverty.

Education is a core focus of Divine Hearts Foundation’s mission. In Uganda, the adult literacy rate has been steadily increasing, reaching 80.59% in 2022—a significant improvement from previous years. This progress underscores the importance of education in transforming lives. However, despite these gains, many children in rural areas like Kigulu still struggle to access education due to financial barriers. The Foundation’s Education Sponsorship Program is designed to address this issue by providing financial assistance for school fees, books, and other educational resources.

Our commitment to education is driven by a simple but powerful belief: education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. By empowering children with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed, we are not only helping individuals but also strengthening entire communities. The adult literacy rate, which measures the percentage of people ages 15 and above who can read and write, is an important indicator of this progress. While Uganda’s literacy rate has seen encouraging growth, there is still much work to be done to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn.

However, we cannot do this alone. It costs $145 to cover school fees for one child per term, and we need your help to continue this vital work. Your donation can make a real and lasting difference in a child’s life, providing them with access to the education they need to build a brighter future.

We invite you to join us in this mission. By donating through our website, you can help send a child to school, support their education, and give them the tools to succeed.
